Meditation for Massage Therapists During COVID Crisis

In this Post: I share a meditation for massage therapists to help them work through the grief associated with experiencing the crisis the COVID situation has inflicted on us as a collective.

COVID Meditation for Massage Therapists

Perhaps it’s time to make space for something new? Accept the changing times we are currently experiencing and embracing the unknown.

I want to invite you to join me today as we say goodbye to our old ways of being AND doing business.

Collectively we are grieving, grieving for what was and what was to be.

Allow yourself to feel all of the emotions: anger, sadness, remorse, anxiety, and possibility. Open yourselves to the idea that changes can elevate you to new levels if you let them.

The more we sit with our intense emotions, the more we are able to see our way through them and into a state of relief. Today, I invite you to sit with your emotions.

Meditation for Massage Therapists During the COVID Crisis

Please, make yourselves comfortable, either lying down or sitting in a chair. Take a moment to settle into a straight spine. Uncross your arms and legs, and begin to focus on your breathing. As you take an inhale, close your eyes and open your mind.

Focus on your exhale as you let go of this moment and move on to the next.

As you continue to focus on your exhales, let go of all of the tension in your muscles.

Scan your body for any areas that are clinging to tension and give yourself permission to loosen that grip.

Surrender to the gravity that roots you deep into the earth.

Connect with the healing powers of mother earth. Thank her for serving us as you let go of any resistance, conscious, and unconscious.

Exhale. Let go and soften deeper and deeper, rooting yourself into Gaia’s womb.

Allow your body to soften a little deeper still.

Allow each out-breath to exhale tension from your body.

Let go of any expectations you had for your massage practice.

Know that you are currently in a safe place. You have created this space to process what COVID has taken from you. You are safe and supported. Relax and give yourself permission to let go.

Let go of all the “what if’s” that flood your mind.

Breathe out the lost revenue.

Breathe out the anxiety in your soul.

Give yourself permission to be here right now, doing just this.

Breathe in space. An expansive space.

Breathe in light.

Breathe in growth.

Often our identity is tied to our work. Allow your mind to shatter this notion. You are MORE than your work. Your identity is NOT lost. Instead, this is an opportunity to redefine self.

Consider perhaps that there were things that needed to be let go of.

Consider that change is good.

Create a space where possibility lives—an expansive, open, pristine place.

Now release your hold on the past.

Continue to breathe fully, focus on the exhale, and welcome this experience with acceptance. Acceptance for whatever you are experiencing.

Know that is some ways this global crisis has been your teacher. Today, you can thank this experience for the gift it has given you, and the lessons it has provided. Using the next several exhales, give yourself permission to mourn.

Mourn the losses you have experienced.

Mourn the practice that you had and the future that you imagined.

Scan your mind and body for any feelings of sadness or grief.

Use your exhale to relax, and let the grief release from your body. Allow your body to be heavy and filled with ease.

Let feelings of self-love and possibility move into the space you have created. Notice the feeling in your body from letting go. Take a moment to enjoy this sensation.

And now allow yourself to go just a little deeper still.

Allow yourself permission to let go.

With your next exhale, let go of the sadness.

Breathe in deeply.

Open your mind to possibility.

Allow your mind to expand to self-love.

Open your mind to the idea that you have all the tools you need to move forward in this time and space.

Let go and bask in the light and love you have created today. Enjoy this new bright space. Drifting deeper into relaxation as your mind and body have opened up to new ideas.

Give your self permission to heal. To heal and let go.

Take some time now to rest in this newfound awareness.

Let a sense of lightness wash over your body as if a weight has been lifted. Notice the subtle changes throughout your body. Be with these sensations.

When you are ready, slowly begin to bring your consciousness back to the room you are in and the space around you. Take the next few breathes to thank yourself for coming today, for honoring your past, grieving your loss, and welcoming opportunity.

On your next inhale, open your eyes. I invite you to continue to give yourself permission to let go of your expectations for a future changes. To continue to let yourself mourn what this global pandemic altered.

Come back to this meditation for massage therapists as often as you need. Remember that this is a practice. Thanks so much for allowing my guidance, and practicing with me today. I hope you experience light and love today and every day.

I LOOVE being productive! Ticking things off my I LOOVE being productive!

Ticking things off my to-do list feels sooo good!

But this mindset can lead to serious burnout if we aren't careful!

It's important to rest and recharge! To enjoy some "trash time!"

My latest "trash time” has been spent enjoying Queen Charlotte on Netflix. What about you?

Are you still wearing a mask when you massage? A Are you still wearing a mask when you massage?

After three years of mask-wearing, I finally reached my breaking point.

I announced to my clients that I would no longer be wearing a mask during sessions.

I informed them that if they were more comfortable with me continuing to wear one, I was MORE THAN happy to on a case-by-case basis, but that universally it just would no longer be the norm.

Please share where you are at on your mask working journey.

Ah, Groupon, a death sentence, or a strategical ma Ah, Groupon, a death sentence, or a strategical marketing partner?

Depending on who you talk to, the answers varies.

Are you ready for my unpopular opinion???

While I agree that there are some huge downsides to programs such as Groupon, I also firmly believe there are stages in a massage business when you can make it work to your advantage.

So how can you have a positive experience? Well, you must buckle down and get smart about how you approach such deals. You shouldn’t enter into an agreement without doing your homework, putting serious thought into the terms, and making sure that you are truly comfortable with all aspects of the transaction.

When I ran my deal, 1 in 3 of the clients either rebooked, purchased a gift certificate or bought merchandise.

How's that for a return on investment???
