EPISODE 022: No-Shows in Your Massage Biz

One of the most annoying things in our massage world is when client’s no-show! We have prepared ourselves mentally, physically, and energetically to give an awesome treatment, and then our client fails to show.

The client may think, “No big deal, I’ll reschedule for next week.” But the truth is, that’s an appointment that could have been booked by someone else. That is time you could have been doing something else! And lost revenue. Or is it? This is what we explore in this podcast episode.

How to mitigate the occurrence of no-shows in your massage biz

  1. Have a clear 24-hour cancellation policy that each and every client is made aware of BEFORE their massage appointment.
  2. Update all printed and online material to reflect your strict 24-hour cancellation policy.
  3. Collect credit cards information to reserve appointments. Letting clients know that if they fail to give 24 hours, they will be charged. (Make sure to store this information on a secure site that doesn’t allow outside parties to view the credit card information, most online booking systems have this capability.)
  4. Send text reminders to clients about their appointments. Some online booking software can automate this process.

Sometimes our clients get sick, have a family emergency, or have some other legitimate reason for missing their appointment. For everyone else, make sure to hold firm to your boundaries and charge when they fail to respect your time! Remember, we teach people how to treat us, and if you allow a client to get away with not paying when they “forget” about their appointment, it will continue to happen!

And when the inevitable no-show does happen, quickly refocus your attention to pesky tasks you have been avoiding to maximize the time! (Avoid spending the next hour scrolling through Facebook as you fume about the client who had no respect for your time!)

Did you know my program "Massage In The Real World Did you know my program "Massage In The Real World: The Complete Guide for Bridging the Gap from School to Thriving Practice" is open for enrollment?

I am soooo excited to welcome another round of students into the program!

My program has been carefully laid out to include everything you need to make it as an entrepreneur in the massage world.⁣ ⁣ If you've been waiting to launch your massage biz, maybe due to COVID or because you are scared or afraid to fail, this is the program for you!⁣

When I was in massage school, I noticed a severe gap in the information being provided to therapists versus what it actually took to be a thriving, successful entrepreneur.⁣ ⁣

It broke my heart to watch therapist after therapist struggle to get their business off the ground!⁣ ⁣ In school, it feels like a warm cocoon. A bubble of love and healing light! We are insulated from a lot of the realities we face in the field!⁣ ⁣ Now, I don't want to burst that bubble. I think the world needs as much love and healing light as possible!

Instead, my goal is to equip therapists with the tools necessary to share their light while also kicking ass as informed, prepared, confident entrepreneurs!⁣ ⁣

Inside the program, I teach you how to overcome your fears, practice in ethical ways, gain traction, and increase your dollar bills!⁣ ⁣

"Massage In The Real World" is about creating and launching profitable, sustainable, ethical massage businesses that set you up for a life of success!⁣ ⁣

Here, you join a community of highly motivated massage therapists, get a step-by-step guide to launching a business "right" the first time, and receive support along the way!⁣ ⁣ I'd love to personally invite you into my program. ⁣DM me for details.

Step off the hamster wheel and commit to yourself!⁣ I hope to see you on the other side!⁣
